Asperger's Social Skills Group

A 10 week interactive social skills training group to help children with
Asperger's syndrome learn improve their social interaction abilities.

Children with Asperger's syndrome often exhibit difficulties in the social areas of life. They frequently have few, if any, friends, they are teased and often feel like they "don't fit in". Social skills training has been found to be one of the best ways to help these children learn the various 'social rules' that other people take for granted.

To insure that each child receives the best outcome possible, PsychSystems therapists use a structured group method that adheres to established ABA (Applied Behavioral Analysis) principles. Each group uses informational learning experiences combined with role play and social interaction to allow each participant to interface with the relevant skill in different ways.
This allows us to meet each child at his or her level and learning style.

How do I enroll my child? Fill in the pre-registration form below:

Thanks for your interest, someone will contact you within 48 hours.
If you need information quicker, please call us at (734) 729-7792, ext 403.

A PsychSystems representative will contact you to get more specific information about your child and his or her characteristics. We can only take a few children at a time, and, we must restrict the group to a specific age range so that the material in the group can be relevant for all who participate. But please, don't let that discourage you from filling in the pre-registration form. As we get applicants, we make the determination about the age group and the characteristics of the members. We may also be able to do additional sections (if there are enough children) or set up a wait list for subsequent groups. If we cannot accommodate your child, we may be able to refer you to another group being held by another organization.

If you child is accepted, the second step would be for you to fill out the assessment tool that lets us know which skills your child needs help with the most. You will also be asked to formally register for the group at this time by signing consent for treatment, HIPAA and other relevant registration materials. A $50 deposit is also requested at this time.

Will my health insurance pay for this?

In some cases, yes, but we are only on a limited number of panels at this time. We will work with you to bill your insurance company, but you may have to work with them to get authorization, even if it is 'out of network' authorization. If your insurance will not cover this, we can work with you on a payment plan, or, you can use a credit card through our Paypal link on our website.
