PsychSystems offers the revolutionary BECK Diet Solution - a scientifically developed method of helping people change their thinking and their relationship to food.

This group is an 8 week program that teaches a new psychological skill each week that will help you maintain your weight loss goal- regardless of the diet or nutritional plan that you use.

Why haven't you been successful in your attempts to diet in the past? It is usually easy to start- you pick a program, work on it (while you are highly motivated) and have some initial success. But after a while, you begin to lose steam and you revert to old patterns that caused you to gain weight in the first place. Without dealing with the thinking and behavior that sabotages your dieting efforts, long term weight loss and maintenance is unlikely.

The BECK Diet plan has been developed by Judith Beck PhD, an internationally known Psychologist who is one of the driving forces in the Cognitive Therapy movement. The key components of this plan are:

  • Picking a nutritious diet and a reasonable, sustainable exercise program
  • Planning and monitoring what you eat
  • Use good eating habits so that you really notice and enjoy every bite
  • Solve diet and exercise related problems (that realistically fit into your life)
  • Plan the transition to "rest of your life" eating and exercising

Learning to stay thin is like learning any skill- like playing a musical instrument. You would not expect to pick up a guitar and begin to play- you would need to learn specific skills and then you would need to practice those skills until they became routine. It is no different with dieting.
