Coaching. Good place for professionals who are interested in learning about becoming a Coach, also
helpful for people who would like more information before working with a coach.

Starting Over- A daytime TV show showing Coaching in action!. This site gives information
about the NBC daytime series Starting Over a reality show that features three women who are making changes in
their lives with the help of 2 professional Life Coaches.

American Psychiatric Association Practice Guidelines. This link allows you to see what the current research says regarding specific treatments (both

and examples from the Association of Behavioral and Cognitive Therapies (ABCT). Great, in depth explanation.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy- web page.
This is the site to contact the organization that is linked to Marsha Linehan and her colleagues. This scientifically
verified treatment for people with Borderline Personality Disorder and other chronic mental health issues is considered
'state of the art' treatment by most legitimate mental health sources.

Facilitated Communication (transcript of
PBS show in 1993). The linked transcript is a word for word script of the Frontline episode where the validity
of FC was challenged in a court case. Due to this, a scientific study was done to test whether or not this procedure actually allows people with disabilities to communicate,
or if the 'speech' is actually created by the facilitator. Very interesting reading.

Jack's Place For Autism a collaborative
effort between Jim and Lisa Price, parents of an autistic child, and Oakland University (Michigan). Great
site for announcements regarding training opportunities and other events related to Autism. Good for parents and
professionals. Also, check out the 'lending library' of books related to autism.

Michigan Mental Health Networker
The site contains listings for
therapists and mental health clinics in Southeastern Michigan as well as a "reading room" with noteworthy
articles from leading newspapers regarding mental health issues.

"More than words" program. From
the Hanen Center - a recognized leader in early language learning interventions.

National Institute of Mental Health: Site
maintained by the US Department of Health and Human Services. Lists information about treatment and current
research for all types of mental disorders and developmental disabilities. Particularly helpful to research
the best and most "state of the art" treatments for a particular psychological problem or mental disorder.
The Autism Pamphlet tells about the state of the art treatments for people with Autism as well as the unreliable
and unproven treatments that are being touted to unsuspecting caregivers.

OCD Foundation web site is a great place
to find information regarding self help resources for people who suffer with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
Link to page regarding most effective treatments is very informative. Also contains a OCD self administered
test to see if you have this disorder.

Surgeon General Report regarding health care for developmentally disabled persons. Before the end of his tenure, Dr. David Satcher, the Surgeon General
of the United States directed a review of the way the American Health Care system mistreats developmentally disabled
persons. This is a great review and gives ideas for advocacy in this important area. (in Adobe Acrobat format-

"Son-Rise" information. Son-Rise is a program for training parents and educators
about working with Autistic children within the context of their own families. Linked article provides a
brief review and some additional links to other reading material.

Autistics.org A site that was developed by and for people with autism to allow them
a voice on the web.

Psychological Broadcasting Company: Site that offers professional continuing education concerning topics
relevant to psychologists or interested persons who just want to learn about psychology. They host symposia-
panels of leading thinkers discuss important journal articles.- Continuing education credits available. They
also offers seminars and conferences in an 'e-learning' format. There is also an extensive library offered.

Mental Health Information Center Sponsored by SAMHSA (Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration)
this site provides different articles and a powerful search capability to allow users to find out up to date information
regarding any mental health subject.

NAMI- the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill.
This site is the home site for NAMI,
and advocacy and political action group that supports people with mental illness. Good site for political
news regarding national and state policy regarding services for people with mental illness.

NMHA-The National Mental Health Association site. This site is probably
the best and most balanced organization devoted to mental health advocacy and education efforts. Lots
of information on treatment of mental disorders and conditions as well as news releases, policy statements and
prevention information.

Journal of Applied Behavior Analysis: Scientific journal that features articles regarding the use of Applied Behavior Analysis
(ABA) for treatment of various psychological and behavioral conditions. Emphasis is on the treatment of psychological
problems in people with Developmental Disabilities and Autism, but here are many articles on other subjects.

National Guardianship Association.
This site is maintained by the National Association of Guardians and will explain the process of guardianship as
well as the appropriateness of alternatives to guardianship.

The Yale Developmental Disabilities Clinic offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary evaluations for children with
social disabilities, usually focusing on the issues of diagnosis and intervention. The clinic is headed by Fred
Volkmar, M.D., and Ami Klin, Ph.D., two of the
most respected experts in the field of autism, Asperger's Syndrome (AS), and other Pervasive Developmental Disorders
(PDDs). We are also conducting several large
research projects on autism, AS, and other PDDs. The clinic is located in the Child Study Center at Yale University, in New Haven, CT.

Personality type assessment. This site allows the user to take personality tests on line (i.e. Myers-Briggs inventory).
There may be a fee for taking the full test.

Be Relaxed: This site provides access
to an assessment scale that will help you determine your risk for stress. There is also a link to an additional
personality test that can help you investigate how you react to stresses.
